Service Dog Suitability Evaluation
Does your dog have the potential to become a service dog?
Service Description
For people with disabilities, service dogs can often provide life-changing support that allows a much greater degree of freedom and independence. With lifetime investments ranging from $10,000-$60,000, training a service dog is a significant financial undertaking, and choosing the wrong candidate can lead to heartbreaking wash-outs, leading to several wasted years and severe fiscal strain on the owner. To help combat this, we offer a professional, objective temperament evaluation service designed to protect your investment and give you clarity before you embark on your journey together. Environmental resilience, recovery speed, sound sensitivity, problem-solving ability, and overall biddability are just a few of the characteristics we judge when making a recommendation for or against service work. The decision to pursue training after this evaluation is ultimately in your hands - our goal is simply to help you to make the most informed choice for you and your pet, and identify areas in which your pet may need additional support in the future. ***We are deeply committed to setting every dog and handler up for success; however, the reality of service work is that the vast majority of dogs do not possess the specific temperament required, and even those that do well in early testing may not grow into successful service dogs. Because training a service dog is a significant emotional and financial investment, our goal is to provide an objective evaluation that protects your resources. This assessment is purely informational and does not confer legal protections, public access rights, or any endorsement or certification of a service animal or its training.
